Our online Quran Tarjuma course teaches the meaning of the Quran word by word, in Urdu, in live one-on-one Zoom classes for students who can already read the Quran.
Reading the Quran is the first step. Understanding what Allah is saying to you is the step that changes how you pray, how you live and how you raise your children. Allah says: “Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand.” (Surah Yusuf 12:2)
Many Muslims recite beautifully with correct Tajweed, yet have never understood the verses they repeat five times a day in Salah. Tarjuma closes that gap.
When you understand the Quran, Salah stops being a routine and becomes a conversation. Verses about patience, gratitude and mercy start to speak to your daily life. Many of our students say their real bond with the Quran began not when they learned to read it, but when they finally understood it.
Tarjuma also protects you from misunderstanding. A verse taken out of context, or read only through a translation app, can easily be misread. Learning word by word with a qualified teacher means the meaning you take away is accurate.
Most students follow the same path. They learn Noorani Qaida, then Quran reading with Tajweed, and once they read fluently, one question follows: “But what does this actually mean?”
That is where many courses stop. Ours begins there.
Families across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and the Middle East tell us the same thing. They did not want another reading class. They wanted a teacher who could explain the Quran in the language they think in: Urdu, with English for students who need it.
The course is one-on-one and teaches the meaning of the Quran in four stages:
Classes are live on Zoom, one teacher to one student, so the pace is set by the learner. Teachers adjust their examples for children, teenagers and adults.
Here is Surah Al-Ikhlas as you would learn it in class, word by word, with the Urdu and English meaning:
Notice that Ψ£ΩΨΩΨ―Ω (ahad) appears in verse 1 and again in verse 4. Once you learn a word, you start spotting it across the Quran. That is the real power of word-by-word Tarjuma: after a few months, many verses start to make sense even before your teacher explains them.
Tarjuma tells you what the Quran says. Tafseer explains why it says it: the reason a verse was revealed, the deeper meaning of its words and the rulings drawn from it.
Most students start with Tarjuma, because knowing the meaning of each word makes Tafseer far easier later. When you are ready to go deeper, move on to our online Quran Tafseer course.
Teaching Tarjuma is a different skill from teaching recitation. A teacher can recite beautifully and still struggle to explain classical Arabic clearly in Urdu. So we choose Tarjuma teachers for their knowledge of meaning, not only their recitation.
Many families want a female teacher for their daughters, wives or mothers. We have female Tarjuma teachers who teach one-on-one and privately on Zoom, with the same depth as our male teachers. Ask for a female teacher when you register. Read more about learning with a female Quran teacher.
The Tarjuma course costs $30, Β£30 or β¬30 a month. This covers 20 one-on-one classes a month, Monday to Friday, 30 minutes each. That works out to $1.50 per class.
Living somewhere else? Message us and we will share the fee in your local currency. See the full fee plan and our refund policy.
You only need a phone, tablet or laptop with Zoom and a stable internet connection.
It depends on how many days a week you study and how much you review. As a guide:
You start understanding your daily prayers in the first month. That is where most students feel the change.
“Living far from any Islamic center made this the right option. The teacher’s explanations of meaning, not just pronunciation, gave my study more depth.”
