Our online Quran Tafseer course teaches the meaning of the Quran verse by verse, in live one-on-one Zoom classes for adults and older students.
Learning to recite the Quran is the first step. The deeper goal, the one every sincere Muslim seeks, is to understand what Allah is saying. Allah Himself asks: “Do they not then reflect on the Quran?” (Surah Muhammad 47:24)
Tafseer is the explanation of the Quran. It covers what each verse means, why it was revealed, the meaning of its Arabic words, and the rulings (Ahkaam) taken from it. It is different from Tarjuma, which translates the words, and from Hifz, which memorizes them. Tafseer goes further. It explains why a verse was revealed, what it means in full, and how it applies to life today.
Classes are live and one-on-one, taught from home, with no need to travel to a madrassah.
Reciting with correct Tajweed is a beautiful act of worship. But reciting without understanding leaves a gap. The heart connects to the sound of the words, but not always to their meaning. Allah sent the Quran so that people would reflect on its verses (Surah Sad 38:29).
Tafseer closes that gap. It helps you:
The course is built for students ready to move beyond reading and memorizing into real understanding. It follows three principles:
Whether you are a working adult with little time, a parent who wants structured Islamic learning for a teenager, or a Hafiz who wants to understand what you have memorized, the course meets you where you are. New to the subject? Our Tafsir for beginners guide is a good place to start.
What a Tafseer lesson looks like: an example
Here is how a class might explain the second verse of Surah Al-Fatiha:
Ψ§ΩΩΨΩΩ ΩΨ―Ω ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ Ψ±ΩΨ¨ΩΩ Ψ§ΩΩΨΉΩΨ§ΩΩΩ ΩΩΩΩ
That is one verse. A Tarjuma class gives you the first line. A Tafseer class gives you all of it.
Tafseer cannot be taught casually. A small mistake in explaining a verse can shape how a student understands their whole faith, so we choose Tafseer teachers for their knowledge, not just their recitation.
Our Tafseer teachers:
Many women prefer to study the Quran with a female teacher, especially a subject as personal as its meaning. We offer female Tafseer teachers, so classes happen with full comfort and privacy at home. This suits:
Our female teachers meet the same standard as our male teachers. Read more about our female Quran teachers.
Many students start with our Quran Tarjuma course, where they learn the meaning of the Quran verse by verse in a simpler, more direct way. Once they know common Quranic words and can follow the general meaning, they are ready for Tafseer, which adds context, grammar, rulings and scholarly explanation.
Tarjuma first is our recommendation, not a strict rule. Students who follow this path usually grasp Tafseer faster. If you already read the Quran well and want to start Tafseer directly, your teacher will check your level in the trial and guide you.
You should be able to read the Quran before starting. If you cannot yet, begin with Quran reading with Tajweed. Students who have finished Hifz often take Tafseer next, to understand what they have memorized.
Classes run Monday to Friday, 30 minutes each. That is long enough for one or two verses studied properly, and short enough to fit a busy day.
The Tafseer course costs $30 a month in the USA, Β£30 in the UK and β¬30 in Europe, with no hidden costs. Families in other countries can message us for their local price.
There is no long-term contract. Continue for as long as suits your goals. See all monthly plans.
Most Muslims recite the Quran. Far fewer take the step to understand it. That one step, from reciting to understanding, is among the most meaningful things you can do for your faith or your child’s.
“Living far from any Islamic center made this the right option. The teacher’s explanations of meaning, not just pronunciation, gave my study more depth.” Layla H., Sydney, Australia
You do not need to travel or change your life to study Tafseer. You need a device, an internet connection, and the intention to understand what Allah has revealed. Book your free trial on WhatsApp, read what students say on our reviews page, or contact us here.
