In Nicosia there are Omerie, Bayraktar, Arablar and Taht-el-Kaleh.

North of the Green Line the picture is different. Selimiye and Arab Ahmet in Nicosia, Lala Mustafa Pasha in Famagusta dating from the Ottoman conquest of 1571, and Agha Cafer Pasha in Kyrenia are all active, with Turkish-funded imams and religious instruction widely available. If you live near one of these and your child can attend, go. In-person teaching with a local teacher is better, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Booking an online Quran teacher in Cyprus around the school day

This is where Cyprus is easier than most places we teach. The island runs on UTC+2, moving to UTC+3 in summer. Lahore is UTC+5. The gap is two to three hours, not eight.

A 4:00 pm class in Nicosia is 7:00 pm in Lahore during winter and 6:00 pm in summer. A 6:00 pm class in Limassol is 9:00 pm or 8:00 pm. Those are ordinary working hours for our teachers, which means the slot you book is the slot you keep. Classes run Monday to Friday. We do not teach at weekends.

Classes taught in Urdu

Our teachers are from Lahore and teach in Urdu and English. For Pakistani families in Kyrenia, Famagusta, Nicosia or Morphou this matters more than anything else on this page, because a child learns Makharij faster when correction comes in the language spoken at home. Recitation and madhhab

We teach Hafs an Asim and follow the Hanafi madhhab. Turkish Cypriot practice is Ottoman Hanafi reciting Hafs, and Pakistani families are Hanafi too. There is nothing for your child to unlearn later.

Female Quran teacher for women and girls

Women and girls can ask for a female teacher and the request is arranged before the trial class, never afterwards. Our female teachers cover all six courses, from the first letters through Tajweed, memorisation and Tafseer. Many mothers study in their own slot alongside a daughter, often because nobody taught them properly as children. No starting level is too basic.

• Noorani Qaida starts a complete beginner at the Arabic letters, then joined forms, vowels and first words. Most students spend three to six months here.
• Quran Reading builds fluent recitation. The teacher listens to you read aloud every session and corrects Makharij, Madd and Waqf as you go, which no recording or app can do.
• Hifz is structured memorisation with daily portions sized to the student and revision of earlier portions in every class. Progress notes are kept so nothing is lost after a break.
• Tarjuma teaches word by word meaning, starting with short surahs the student already knows by heart
• Tafseer covers context, background and commentary, and suits teenagers and adults who already read with reasonable fluency.

If a teacher leaves or you miss a week

The usual complaint about online classes is not teaching quality. It is teachers who disappear and get swapped without notice. If your teacher becomes unavailable we tell you before the next class and pass on the student’s progress notes so the new teacher does not start again from the beginning. Miss a class and ask for a make up session.

Fees and payment from Cyprus
