Quran Teacher Andorra

Before you book anyone, find out which reading your family uses. Most Muslims in Andorra come from Morocco and North Africa, and those families recite Warsh ‘an Nafi’. We teach Hafs ‘an Asim. These are two valid readings of the same Quran, but a teacher trained in one will correct a child reading the other. Warsh or Hafs? Why it changes who you hire

Warsh is the daily reading across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Mauritania. Hafs is what most of the rest of the Muslim world reads, including Pakistan, India, Egypt and the Gulf.

The differences are in sound, not meaning. In Al-Fatiha, Hafs lengthens the vowel in maliki yawm al-din, while Warsh keeps it short. There are many such points across the whole text.

The mushaf itself also differs. Moroccan copies are printed in Maghribi script, which shapes several letters differently from the script used in Pakistani and Middle Eastern printings. A child who learned to read one page layout will hesitate over the other.

One historical note worth knowing. Warsh was the main recitation of al-Andalus, so it is the reading with the oldest roots in these valleys.

If your child already reads a Moroccan mushaf, keep them with a Warsh teacher. We would be undoing their work.

What Andorra already has

There is no purpose-built mosque in the Principat. The Muslim community rents two prayer rooms, one in Andorra la Vella and one in Escaldes-Engordany, according to the US Department of State.

The Centre Cultural Islàmic d’Andorra sits at Carrer Terra Vella 17 in Andorra la Vella and is open from nine in the morning until eight in the evening. Jumu’ah and janazah prayers are held there. The centre already teaches Arabic to around fifty students.

Go there first. If they can take your child, that is better than anything we offer, because a teacher in the same room hears more than a teacher on a screen.

Who we can actually teach here

The US Department of State puts Andorra’s population near 85,500, with roughly half of residents holding another nationality, mostly Spanish, French and Portuguese. Muslim leaders estimate their community at between 1,000 and 2,000 people.

Within that, our students are the smaller group: South Asian families working in hospitality and retail, English-speaking residents who moved here for work, and adults who read poorly and will not sit in a group. If your household reads Hafs and speaks Urdu or English, we fit. If not, we have said so above.

The language limit

Catalan is the official language, and Spanish, French and Portuguese are in daily use. Our teachers work in Urdu and English only.

We cannot teach a child whose only working language is Catalan or French. Several families cross to La Seu d’Urgell for halal shopping and find teachers on that side of the border, which may serve you better.

Noorani Qaida Online

A child who has attended the Arabic lessons at Carrer Terra Vella may already recognise the letters. Reading Arabic and reciting Quran are different skills, and knowing the alphabet does not mean the articulation is right. The trial lesson tells us which of the two you actually need. Online Quran Reading with Tajweed

The stage where the script question becomes practical. A child who learned on a Maghribi printing meets a different letter shape on ours and stalls, and the hesitation looks like a reading problem when it is a layout problem. Quran Memorisation

There is no hifz halaqah in Andorra to slot into, so the whole structure has to come from us and the revision has to happen at home with a parent listening. Families who cannot commit to that daily listening should not start memorisation yet, and we will say so. See the course.

Word by word translation into Urdu. Relevant only to the small number of South Asian households here. If Urdu is not spoken in your home this course does nothing for you, and English translation reading is a better use of the same money. See the course.

How to book an online Quran teacher in Andorra

Three free trial lessons. Watch all three. If we are wrong for your family, we will say so on the third.

Thirty minutes, one teacher to one student, a fixed weekly slot you choose, twenty lessons a month from Monday to Friday. Rates are on the fee page.

Andorra runs on Central European Time, three hours behind Lahore in winter and four in summer, so an after school lesson at half past five here falls in the evening for the teacher.

Paying is simple. Andorra joined the Single Euro Payments Area on 1 March 2019, and all five Andorran banks came online with it on 5 March, so a standard euro transfer works.

Female Quran teachers for girls and women

Ask when you book, not after. She is confirmed before your slot is, and she stays the same week to week.

This matters more here than in bigger places. With no mosque and only two rented prayer rooms, there is no local women’s circle to join, so many sisters have no in person option at all. Adult women learn one to one, with nobody else in the room.

Vetting and safeguarding

You may sit in on any lesson, any week, without telling us beforehand. We would rather you did.

Teachers do not contact students outside scheduled lesson times through any channel. Concerns go to a named person, not a form. Our refund policy covers what happens if you stop mid month.
