At Islamic Quran Academy, every Quran Teacher Gambia students meet is a Hafiz or Hafiza. From Banjul and Serrekunda to Brikama, Bakau, Basse and Farafenni, learners join live on Meet or Zoom. Every lesson is explained in English, 20 classes cost $30 a month, and the first three are free.
Faith runs deep here. The CIA World Factbook reports that 96.4% of Gambians are Muslim, and the Supreme Islamic Council advises the government on religious affairs. Quran classes in Gambia are easy to find, from the streets around the King Fahad Mosque in Banjul to villages along the river.
Most of those classes, though, are day or boarding schools for children. Our online lessons fill the gaps:
Each lesson pairs one learner with one teacher for 30 minutes, Monday to Friday, and can stretch to 40. These one to one lessons suit Tajweed correction, where a teacher must hear each sound clearly. Weekend times are open, and missed lessons can be moved. We run online Quran classes for kids from age 4 and online Quran classes for adults. A phone with a steady signal is enough. English is Gambia’s official language, so our English explanations need no translation.
Gambia keeps GMT all year without a clock change, so Banjul stays exactly 5 hours behind Lahore. A 4 pm lesson in Serrekunda is 9 pm for your teacher. Ramadan should begin around 8 February 2027, when sunset in Banjul comes close to 7 pm, and Ramadan classes are timed around iftar.
Much of West Africa, including neighbouring Senegal, reads the Quran in the Warsh style. Our teachers teach Hafs an Asim. If your family reads Warsh, raise it at the trial class and we will tell you honestly whether our lessons suit you.
Our online Quran academy offers the online classes for Quran learning below.
With Noorani Qaida online, a beginner learns each Arabic letter, how letters join, and the short vowel marks.
In our Quran recitation classes, your Tajweed teacher listens and corrects in real time, so errors stop before they become habits. Adults often finish a first complete reading within 8 to 12 months.
Hifz students in Gambia memorize the Quran with a new lesson and a revision of earlier pages every day.
Add translation to learn word meanings, then Tafseer for the background of each verse.
For Islamic studies online, Gambian learners cover daily duas for home, market and travel. Urdu lessons are also available.
If you would like a woman to teach your daughter, or yourself, say so on WhatsApp. A Hafiza will then teach every lesson from the trial onward.
Our teachers are all Hafiz or Hafiza, men and women, teaching from Lahore, Pakistan. A learner keeps one teacher, so progress is never lost between lessons. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Read the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions” (Sahih Muslim 804). See more about us.
Our monthly fee is $30 for 20 one to one classes. The three free trial classes need no card. Fees are sent by Western Union, and our refund policy is published. Read parent reviews too.
