Finding a Quran teacher El Salvador families can reach depends almost entirely on where you live. Five mosques serve the country and most sit in the capital. The oldest, Mezquita An-Nur on Avenida España in the Centro Histórico, opened in 1992. Mezquita Dar-Ibrahim followed on Alameda Roosevelt in 2007, shaped like an ordinary house with no dome and no minaret. If San Salvador is your city, go there. Quran Pak Teacher is built for everyone else.
Nobody agrees. Wikipedia cites figures from 1,000 up to 18,000. Academic work suggests closer to 2,000, while Spanish language reporting puts it near 4,000, with more than a thousand attending the five mosques regularly.
The honest summary is a few thousand people, mostly around San Salvador: families of Palestinian, Lebanese and Yemeni descent alongside a rising number of Salvadoran converts.
Santa Ana is more than an hour from the nearest masjid. San Miguel is further. In Sonsonate, Islam reached indigenous families in Nahuizalco during the mid 2000s through contact with Muslims from the capital, and those households have no local teacher at all.
A weekly class is not realistic across that distance. A half hour lesson at home is. Teaching comes from Lahore in Pakistan, one teacher per student, kept the same each week. You speak with that teacher before anything is paid.
English or Urdu. Not Spanish. This matters enough to say plainly rather than bury.
That suits three groups. Salvadorans who lived in the United States and returned. Families of Arab descent who use English at work. Younger students already studying in English at school.
If your household speaks only Spanish and wants instruction in Spanish, we are the wrong choice. The centres in San Salvador publish Spanish materials for exactly this reason.
We teach Hafs recitation in the Sunni Hanafi tradition. Shia families in the country are served by a separate association and should look there instead.
El Salvador keeps Central Standard Time all year with no clock change, and Lahore runs eleven hours ahead. That gap would normally rule out most of the day. It does not here, because teachers work in shifts covering all twenty-four hours, Monday to Friday, so a lesson can sit wherever your week has room.
| Your time | Lahore | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 5:00 am | 4:00 pm | Adults before work |
| 7:00 am | 6:00 pm | Children before school |
| 3:00 pm | 2:00 am | After school |
| 8:00 pm | 7:00 am | Evening study |
Classes run on weekdays. Early mornings and evenings fill first, so ask about those ahead of time.
DataReportal recorded 4.90 million internet users at the close of 2025, putting penetration at 76.8 percent.
Payment is simple here. El Salvador has used the US dollar since 2001 and our fees are quoted in dollars, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.
Six programmes. Every one is live, and every one pairs a single student with a single teacher.
Noorani Qaida suits anyone who cannot yet read Arabic letters. Recognition first, then joining letters, then short words. Four to six months is normal for a child.
Quran reading with Tajweed begins when the letters are secure. Because someone is listening live, a wrong sound gets stopped and repeated correctly straight away.
Hifz uses small daily portions with constant revision of what came before. Consistency counts more than speed.
Tarjuma delivers the meaning word by word, so a student understands what is being recited.
Tafseer deals with background: what prompted a verse and how it has been read since. Best for older students.
Urdu reading is available for households with South Asian family ties.
Everything appears on the courses page, and rates are published on the fee page: twenty weekday lessons a month, half an hour each. The first three cost nothing and no card is requested.
An adult you have never met will spend time alone with your child. Here is what stands behind that.
Teachers pass identity and reference checks before a student is assigned. Parents may enter any lesson at any point without warning us first. Teacher and child never exchange private messages, and every contact route runs through the parent’s own number. Anything that worries you goes through the contact page and reaches a person who answers.
A large share of Salvadoran Muslims came to Islam as adults, and many meet the alphabet for the first time in their thirties or forties. That is ordinary here. Lessons stay private and nobody outside the room is told.
Women who want a female teacher can have one, and so can girls.
Three lessons at no cost, then you choose. Write through the contact form or message on WhatsApp with ages and preferred hours, and a teacher is matched to you.
Whether you are in Santa Ana, Sonsonate or San Miguel, a Quran teacher El Salvador households can rely on no longer depends on living near the capital.
