Our Quran Teacher St. Lucia classes are live, one to one lessons with a Hafiz or Hafiza, taught over video call by Islamic Quran Academy. You pay $30 a month for 20 lessons, and your first three classes are free. Students join from Castries, Gros Islet, Vieux Fort and Soufrière at times that suit Atlantic Standard Time.
St. Lucia has a small Muslim community of a few hundred people, according to US State Department estimates. Most are Saint Lucians who accepted Islam, along with families from the Middle East, South Asia and other Caribbean islands. The State Department’s International Religious Freedom Report notes that the Islamic Association of Saint Lucia registered in 2020 and has asked for land to build a mosque.
For now, Muslims pray in small musallas in Castries, including one in the Morne district, and in Vieux Fort. With few Quran teachers on the island, many parents and new Muslims learn at home. Our lessons help with that. They do not replace your musalla, where Jumu’ah, Tarawih and Eid prayers bring the community together.
Every teacher at our academy is a Hafiz or Hafiza, which means they have memorized the whole Quran. Hafiz Ali Ahmad and Hafiz Umair Akram each have 10 years of teaching experience. Our teachers speak English and Urdu, so parents can talk about progress in the language they know best.
Sisters and girls can ask for a female teacher when booking the trial. You can read what other families say on our testimonials page.
English is St. Lucia’s official language, so lessons are taught in clear English. You start with the Arabic letters, then learn Surah Al Fatiha so you can pray correctly. You need no Arabic before your first class.
Children can start from age 4. Short 30 minute lessons hold their attention, and weekend classes fit around busy school weeks.
Lessons are private, so nobody else hears your mistakes. Some adults begin with the alphabet, while others fix reading they learned years ago without Tajweed.
Several medical schools operate on the island, including International American University and Spartan Health Sciences University in Vieux Fort, and American International Medical University in Gros Islet. If you moved from Pakistan or India to study, you can keep up your Quran study between lectures with a teacher who speaks Urdu.
Every class is one to one on your own device, so a parent can sit beside the child and hear the whole lesson. We suggest using a laptop or tablet in a shared family room rather than a bedroom. Girls can learn with a female teacher on request. If anything worries you, message the academy on WhatsApp and speak to us directly.
Each course is taught one to one. Pick one at your trial, or let your teacher suggest a starting point.
See every option on our courses page.
St. Lucia is 9 hours behind our teachers in Lahore, Pakistan, and neither country changes its clocks. A 7am class in Castries starts at 4pm in Lahore, so morning slots are the easiest to book. Classes run Monday to Friday, with weekend options too. Share your preferred times at the trial, and we will confirm which slots are open.

Most beginners read fluently with Tajweed within 6 to 12 months of regular classes. Progress depends on how often you attend and practise. Our teachers teach the Hafs ‘an ‘Asim recitation. If you learned a different recitation before, mention it at your trial so your teacher can guide you.
