Online Quran Classes for Families Across Mauritius

Bonzour and as salamu alaikum. If you are searching for a Quran Teacher Mauritius parents can rely on, you probably want a Hafiz who teaches patiently, a class that fits around school, and one to one attention for your child. Our tutors teach live over video, so a child in Plaine Verte, Quatre Bornes or Triolet is heard and corrected in every class.

Quran Learning on the Island, Then and Now

Muslims make up about 18 percent of Mauritius, according to the 2022 census. The Camp des Lascars Mosque, built around 1805, was the island’s first purpose built mosque, and the Jummah Mosque on Royal Street in Port Louis dates from the 1850s. For generations, local madrassahs taught children to read the Quran in Arabic alongside Urdu. In 1983, Muslim student and women’s groups in Port Louis began publishing a Quran translation in Kreol.

Weekday Practice Between Madrassah Saturdays

Many children still learn at the mosque on weekends, and that matters. A week is a long gap, though, and letters learned on Saturday fade by Friday. Short lessons at home on weekdays keep reading moving, and a one to one teacher catches mistakes a busy class can miss. There’s also no evening drive from Curepipe or MahΓ©bourg.

Learn Quran Online Mauritius Families Can Fit Around School

Here is how it works:

  1. Send a WhatsApp message and book three trial classes at no cost.
  2. Meet your Hafiz, who checks where your child is, from alif to fluent reading.
  3. Pick weekday times, with 20 classes a month of 30 minutes each, stretchable to 40, plus weekend options.

Mauritius is just one hour behind Lahore, so a 4 pm class in Port Louis is 5 pm for your teacher.

What Your Child Can Study

  • Noorani Qaida: The base for everything after. Your child learns alif to ya, the short and long vowels, and how to join letters. A Hafiz listens to each sound, so the habits that form are correct from day one.
  • Quran Reading with Tajweed: Students move from the Qaida to the Quran itself. Rules like ghunnah, qalqalah and madd are practiced aloud in every class, not just explained. With regular lessons, most students read with basic Tajweed in 6 to 12 months.
  • Hifz: A structured memorization plan using sabaq for new lines, sabqi for recent lessons, and manzil for older portions. It works well alongside Saturday madrassah, since daily revision keeps memorized surahs strong.
  • Tarjuma: Word by word meaning in Urdu or English, helping children understand the surahs they already recite.
  • Tafseer: A deeper study for teens and adults, covering the background and lessons of each passage.
  • Urdu: Many Mauritian grandparents learned Urdu in madrassah. This course helps children read it again, including Urdu Islamic books at home.
