What school already covers, and what it leaves out

Under Academic Policy 2021, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education made Arabic, Islamic education and Qatari history compulsory in every private school and kindergarten in Qatar. Islamic studies is taught from grade 1 through grade 12. Your child is already studying Islam at school.

That is a subject. It is taught in Arabic, to a full class, and marked in an exam.

It is not the same as sitting with one teacher who listens to you recite, stops you on a wrong letter, and shows you where that sound is formed in the mouth. Plenty of children here pass Islamic studies each year and still cannot open the Mushaf and read a page alone.

Closing that gap is the whole reason this service exists.

How Quran classes in Qatar fit the school week

Qatar studies and works from Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday are the weekend, and Friday is the day of Jummah.

Schools here run one shift. Most begin between 7am and 8am and finish between noon and 2:30pm, so children are home early and the afternoon stays open. A common choice is the stretch between Asr and Maghrib, once homework is done. Others start after Isha, when the house is quiet.

Tell us which days suit you and which prayer to work around. All timings follow Arabian Standard Time. When hours shorten during Ramadan, lessons move rather than pause.

The languages we teach in

Qatar’s National Planning Council recorded a population of 3,214,609 at the end of December 2025, a rise of 2.3 percent on the year before. Most references place expatriates at roughly 85 to 90 percent of that total, and South Asians form the largest share.

Teaching is in Urdu and English. For a Pakistani family in Mesaieed, or an Urdu speaking household in Al Sadd or Abu Hamour, corrections arrive in the language already spoken at home. Children in British, American, Indian or Filipino curriculum schools usually follow English more easily, and full English teaching is available.

We do not teach in Arabic, Hindi, Bengali or Malayalam. If your family needs one of those, better you know now than after a trial.

Choosing your teacher

Both male and female teachers are available across Qatar, and you say which you want when you first message. For daughters, and for sisters learning as adults, a female teacher is the usual request and is never treated as unusual.

Every class holds one student and one teacher. Nobody else is present, and a parent may sit in whenever they wish without arranging it first.

Where you start

• Never seen Arabic letters: start with Noorani Qaida. Letters, then sounds, then joining them into words.
• Reads but stumbles: Quran reading with Tajweed, where Makhraj and pronunciation are corrected line by line during recitation.
• Wants to memorise: Hifz runs on small daily targets with steady revision. Weekend sessions give longer memorisation time without touching school days.
• Reads well and wants meaning: Tarjuma for word by word Urdu translation, Tafseer for the context behind each verse.

We also teach the six Kalimas, Namaz, daily duas, Hadith, and Urdu for children raised in the Gulf who are losing the language. Finishing a course earns a certificate, and passing the Tajweed assessment is required for it. Adult beginners usually read fluently within six to eight months.

Fees, and why they are lower than most

The fee is $25 a month for 20 lessons, close to QAR 91. Each lesson is 30 minutes and can extend to 40 where a student needs it.
