Ghanaian children study in English from their first year of school, and our teachers teach the Quran in English too. That makes a Quran Teacher Ghana families can hire online easy to follow, even for a child who reads no Arabic yet. Our teachers work for Quran Pak Teacher, an online Quran academy whose team sits in Lahore, Pakistan. Every teacher is a Hafiz or Hafiza, and every class is a one to one lesson of 30 minutes.
Ghana has deep Quran teaching roots. Muslims were 19.9 percent of the population in the 2021 census, and the share is far higher in the Northern Region around Tamale. Most zongo communities, from Nima and Maamobi in Accra to Aboabo and Asawase in Kumasi, have a makaranta where children read after school, often led by a mallam the family has known for years. If that works for your child, stay with it.
We suit families the local system does not reach. Some live in Takoradi, Ho or Cape Coast, where Muslim communities are smaller. Some are parents in Tema or East Legon whose children finish late at private schools. Others are adults who want private lessons without joining a class of children. For them, online Quran classes Ghana families can book from home fill a real gap.
Many online academies abroad teach in Arabic or Urdu only. Our teachers explain every rule in clear English, so your child understands why a letter is stretched or softened instead of copying sounds. Parents can speak with the teacher in English about progress.
Our teachers do not speak Hausa, Dagbani or Twi. If your child is more comfortable in one of those, a local mallam may be the better choice.
Some Ghanaian families read Warsh, the reading long used across West Africa, and others read Hafs. Our teachers teach Hafs ‘an Asim only. If your family reads Warsh at home, tell us during the trial, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
Most Sunni Muslims in Ghana follow the Maliki school, and our teachers follow the Hanafi school. For Quran recitation classes this changes nothing, since the letters and Tajweed rules are the same.
Ghana keeps GMT all year, five hours behind Pakistan. A 5pm class in Accra begins at 10pm in Lahore, and a 4pm lesson in Tamale starts at 9pm. Our teachers work night shifts to cover these hours, Monday to Friday. Early risers can take a 6am class before school, which is 11am for the teacher. We keep weekends free, so there are no Saturday or Sunday lessons.
The fee is $30 a month for 20 classes, Monday to Friday. Your first three free trial classes let your child meet the teacher before you pay, with no contract to sign. See our fee plan for details. We currently accept Western Union, which has agents across Ghana.
Most children begin with our Noorani Qaida online course. It covers the 28 Arabic letters, their sounds from the throat, tongue and lips, and how short vowels join letters into words. Our own FAQ puts full fluency with Tajweed at 6 to 12 months for regular students.
Next comes Quran reading, where your child moves from the Qaida to the Mushaf itself. Here the teacher acts as a tajweed teacher, stopping to fix Ghunnah, Idgham and stretched vowels in the verse being read.
Our Hifz course runs memorization classes on a daily cycle of Sabaq for new lines, Sabaqi for the last few lessons, and Manzil for older portions, so memorized surahs stay strong.
For meaning, Tarjuma gives a word by word English translation, and Tafseer explains when and why each surah was revealed. These two courses are how we cover the Quran side of Islamic studies online.
Families with roots in Pakistan or India can also add our Learn Urdu course, which teaches children to read and write Urdu.
A female Quran teacher can take any girl or woman from the first lesson. Parents may watch any class, and no one else joins the video call. If something about a lesson worries you, reach our team and we will look into it.
Send us your town, your child’s age and a class time that suits you, and we will match you with a Quran Teacher Ghana families can trust. Book your free lessons here.
