Muslim families living in Egypt can study the Quran online with our tutors from home. We are Islamic Quran Academy, based in Lahore, Pakistan, teaching one to one since 2020. Every tutor is a Hafiz or Hafiza. Lessons run thirty minutes, Monday to Friday, and your first class is free.

Where our students are

We teach families across Egypt.

In Greater Cairo, most of our students are in Maadi, Zamalek, Heliopolis, Nasr City, New Cairo, Rehab, Sheikh Zayed and 6th of October City. In Giza we teach families in Dokki, Mohandessin and Haram.

Outside the capital we teach in Alexandria, along the Corniche districts and in Smouha and Sidi Gaber, and in the Delta cities of Tanta, Mansoura and Zagazig. On the canal we teach in Port Said, Ismailia and Suez, and on the coast in Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh.

Because classes are online, where you live changes nothing except the time your lesson starts.

Who this suits in Egypt

Egypt is not short of Quran teaching. Most neighbourhoods have a kuttab or a mosque circle, and the teaching halls around Al Azhar Mosque on Al Muizz Street have trained reciters for over a thousand years. A family here has options.

We are useful to a narrower group.

South Asian families living in Egypt. Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi families often want a tutor who explains in Urdu. Ours do. Your child understands the correction the first time, and you can speak to the teacher yourself without translating.

Working parents dealing with traffic. Getting a child from Nasr City to a class across the Ring Road and back can cost you two hours. A lesson at home costs you thirty minutes.

Women who want a female teacher. Our Hafiza tutors teach sisters and girls. The class is one to one and nobody else joins the call.

Families in smaller cities. In Tanta or Ismailia the choice of teacher is narrower than in Cairo, and finding a female tutor for a daughter can be harder still.

Our teachers

Every tutor at Islamic Quran Academy has memorised the whole Quran. A man who has done this is called a Hafiz, a woman a Hafiza.

This matters in practice, not only on paper. A tutor who holds the Quran in memory hears a mistake the moment it happens. They do not need to check the page to know that your child shortened a madd or dropped the ghunnah. Correction is immediate, which is how habits get fixed before they set.

Male and female tutors are available and you can request either when you book.

We are not an Al Azhar academy and we do not claim to be. If what you want is an Ijazah chain in the ten Qira’at from a native Arabic reciter, Cairo can give you that better than we can, and you should take it. What we offer is patient one to one teaching from a Hafiz or Hafiza, in a language your household already speaks, at a price that holds up over a long commitment.

What we teach

Beginners start with Noorani Qaida. This covers the Arabic letters, their shapes and their sounds. It is the foundation, and skipping it is the main reason some children recite quickly but wrongly for years afterwards.

Next comes Quran reading with Tajweed, the rules that decide how each letter is pronounced and held. Adults taking five short lessons a week usually read with reasonable accuracy in six to eight months.

We also teach Hifz for students memorising, Tarjuma and Tafseer for those who want the meaning rather than only the recitation, and Urdu for children in Urdu speaking homes who are losing the language.

Your first lesson

The trial lasts thirty minutes and costs nothing.

The tutor spends the first few minutes listening. They ask what your child already knows and hear a few letters or a short surah. Children who have attended a mosque class often read fast but mispronounce three or four letters, usually the heavy ones. That is normal, and it is fixable.

Then the tutor teaches, so you can watch how they handle a mistake. Notice whether they correct once and move on, or repeat the same letter until the child goes quiet.

At the end they tell you where your child is starting and what the first month covers.

Thirty minutes is our standard length for a reason. Most children under eight stop concentrating after that, and a short lesson done properly beats a long one spent drifting.

Class timings

Egypt is two hours behind Pakistan in summer and three hours behind in winter, so our tutors cover the full Egyptian day.

Most families here book after school, between four and seven in the evening. Adults often take a slot after Isha. Weekend classes are available if weekdays do not work for you.

During Ramadan we move schedules rather than pause them.

Fees

Thirty dollars a month for twenty classes. That is five classes a week, Monday to Friday, thirty minutes each, one tutor to one student.

We accept Western Union. Nothing is paid before your trial.

If the tutor is not right for your child, message us and we will change them. You do not need to give a reason and there is no charge.
