Quran Pak Teacher gives students anywhere in Honduras private online Quran lessons with trained male and female teachers. Each class lasts 30 minutes, runs Monday to Friday, and puts one teacher with one student. Twenty classes cost $30 a month. New students get three free classes before they pay anything.

Is there anywhere in Honduras to learn Quran in person?

For most families, no.

Honduras has two mosques. One is in San Pedro Sula, home to the Centro Islámico de Honduras. The other is a smaller one in Tegucigalpa. Weekly attendance at the San Pedro Sula mosque is around thirty people. The United States Department of State lists Muslims among the religious groups making up less than five percent of the population, and notes that the constitution provides for the free exercise of all religions.

That means if you live in La Ceiba, Choluteca, El Progreso, Comayagua, Choloma, Puerto Cortés, Danlí, Siguatepeque or La Esperanza, there is no Quran class you can drive to. Not an inconvenient one. None.

Even in Comayagüela, or in the colonias off Boulevard Morazán, a weekly trip to the capital’s small prayer space is not the same as a lesson.

This is the gap a private teacher fills. For most Honduran families, online is not the easy option. It is the only one.

What time are the classes?

Honduras runs on Central Standard Time, six hours behind UTC, and stopped using daylight saving in 2006. Your clock never moves, so a fixed weekly slot stays fixed all year.

Two windows work well for students here. Mornings before school, roughly 7am to 9am, and later evenings, roughly 7pm to 9pm. Both fall inside normal working hours for our teachers, so you are not asking anyone to teach at an odd time.

Weekend mornings work too, and many families with school age children prefer them.

What language are the lessons taught in?

Lessons are given in English and Urdu. Recitation is in Arabic. We do not teach in Spanish at this time.

We would rather say that clearly than let you find out in your first class. If your household runs in Spanish, this may not be right for you yet. If you speak English at home, work for an international employer, or grew up in a family that already speaks Arabic, it will suit you well.

Starting from zero, including new Muslims

If you cannot read a single Arabic letter, you are in the right place and you are not late.

Many people in Honduras come to Islam as adults, without family who can teach them and without a mosque nearby. Starting then is normal here. It is not something to apologise for.

You begin with Noorani Qaida, which teaches the Arabic letters, the sound each one makes, and how they join together. Nothing is assumed. Your teacher will not use a word you do not know without explaining it first.

Nobody else is in the class. No group listens while you sound out letters for the first time. Most adults read fluently with correct Tajweed in six to eight months, depending on how often they study.

Who will teach you

Our teachers are qualified huffaz and hafizat, meaning each one has memorised the entire Quran. We have taught from the Islamic Quran Academy in Lahore since 2020. Our students live in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Europe, the Gulf and Latin America.

You keep the same teacher every week, at the same hour. If you miss a class, we reschedule it. A teacher who turns up every week is worth more than a famous name who does not.

You meet your teacher during the free classes, before you commit to anything. If the match is wrong, say so and we will find someone else. Students have written about their experience on our students feedback page.

Quran classes for kids in Honduras

Children usually start between four and seven years old with Noorani Qaida. From there they move to reading from the mushaf with Tajweed, then to memorisation if that is what your family wants.

Thirty minutes is short on purpose. A child who still enjoys the lesson when it ends comes back the next day.

For school age children here, the morning slot before class or a weekend morning usually works best.

Is a female teacher available for women and girls?

Yes. Qualified women teach women and girls, and this is a normal option rather than a favour you have to ask for twice.

Many of our women students are mothers learning next to their own children. Others are reading the Quran properly for the first time. Ask for a female teacher when you book and that is who you meet.

Noorani Qaida for beginners of any age. Quran reading with Tajweed, which can also be taken as online Tajweed classes on their own if you already read Arabic and want your pronunciation corrected. How much does it cost?

Twenty classes a month cost $30. That is about $1.50 a lesson. There is no joining fee and nothing to buy.

Private tutors elsewhere commonly charge ten times that per lesson, and many academies will not show you a price until you have filled in a form. Ours is on this page and on our monthly fee page. Our refund policy is published openly too.

Your first three classes are free. You pay only after you have sat through a lesson.

Knowing that it is working

You get a short written note each week saying what was covered, what improved, and what still needs work.

You may join any lesson without telling us first. Every teacher is named to you before the first class, so you know exactly who is teaching. Lessons happen at a set time on a link we send, and teachers do not message students privately outside class hours.
