Islamic Quran Academy teaches Muslim families living in Greece. Lessons last 30 minutes, run Monday to Friday, and pair one student with one teacher. The fee is €30 a month for 20 lessons. Your first lesson costs nothing.

Why families in Athens study at home

Athens went almost two centuries without an official mosque. The Votanikos Mosque on Iera Odos opened on 3 November 2020. Until that day, Athens was the only capital city in the European Union with no official mosque . More than a hundred informal prayer rooms had grown up across the city instead.

That one mosque now serves a very large community. Its men’s hall holds about 360 people and the women’s room holds 70 to 80 . The Muslim Association of Greece counts roughly 200,000 Muslims across Athens and Attica.

So there is no madrasa on your street in Rentis, Tavros, Moschato, Neos Kosmos or Peristeri. Most parents here are not picking an online class over a local Quran school. There is no local school to pick.

That is the gap we were built to fill.

Read this first if you live in Komotini or Xanthi

Western Thrace is not like the rest of Greece. The 1923 Treaty of Lausanne protects a recognised Muslim minority of roughly 100,000 to 120,000 people in Rhodope, Xanthi and Evros. The region keeps close to 300 mosques and around 270 imams, plus two Islamic seminaries, one in Komotini and one in Echinos. Minority schools there already teach the Quran Wikipedia.

If you live in Komotini or Xanthi, you probably have a good teacher nearby. Online lessons still help in three situations: a woman who wants a female teacher, a student fixing one weak Tajweed rule, or a child who needs daily Hifz revision at a fixed hour.

We would rather tell you this than sell you something you do not need.

How the lessons work

Your child meets the same teacher every weekday. She learns his pace, remembers where he stopped on Tuesday, and starts there on Wednesday. That daily rhythm is how reading actually sticks. A weekend class once a week cannot do the same job.

We use Zoom or Google Meet. You need a phone, tablet or laptop and a steady connection. Nothing else.

Class times in Greek hours

Athens sits two to three hours behind Lahore, depending on the season. Greek school days finish early, so afternoon slots are easy to book. A 5:00 pm lesson in Athens is early evening for your teacher. Evening slots run to about 10:00 pm Athens time. Weekend slots are available for Hifz students.

Your teachers

All our teachers are Hafiz or Hafiza. They come from Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, and include native Arabic speakers. We have taught online since 2020 to families in Europe, North America and Australia.

Ask for a female teacher if you want one for your daughter or for yourself. This is one of the most common requests we receive, so please do not feel awkward asking.

Which language will my child learn in

Your child studies in Greek at school and may speak Urdu, Bengali or Arabic at home. We teach in English, Urdu and Arabic. We do not teach in Greek, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Our teachers work every day with children whose strongest language is the one they use at school. During the free lesson we listen, then match a teacher to the language your child follows most easily.

What you can study

Noorani Qaida is the beginner book. It teaches the Arabic letters, their shapes and their sounds, so a child or an adult can learn to read Quran from scratch.

Quran reading, also called Nazra, moves from letters to fluent recitation.

Tajweed teaches the rules of correct pronunciation, including makharij, the points in the mouth where each letter is formed.

Hifz is memorisation, with revision built into every week.

Tarjuma gives you the meaning of the words. Tafseer explains the background and the lesson of each passage.

We also teach Urdu for families who want their children to keep the home language.

Fees

Twenty lessons a month cost €30. Sixty lessons a term cost the same €30 a month.

Local tutoring in Athens costs far more, so parents often ask how the price can be this low. The answer is simple. Our academy is based in Lahore, our teachers are full time staff, and our costs are low. The price reflects where we sit, not what you receive.

Noorani Qaida Online

This is the foundational course teaching the Arabic alphabet and correct pronunciation rules needed before reciting the Quran. It’s designed especially for beginners and children, guided by certified tutors who use video lessons and audio recordings to build accurate pronunciation from the ground up.

Online Quran Reading

Once Noorani Qaida is complete, students move to this course to learn proper Quran recitation with Tajweed (rules of correct pronunciation). Both audio and video sessions are used, and the course prepares students to recite the Holy Quran with correct articulation.

Learn Quran Online

This course focuses on Quran memorization (Hifz), helping students—children and adults alike—memorize Surahs gradually with expert guidance. Tutors hold qualifications in Islamic studies and help students apply Quranic teachings to daily life while working toward a complete or partial memorization goal.

Online Quran Tarjuma (Tutor)

This course teaches word-for-word Urdu translation of the Quran, taught by certified male and female tutors (including female-only options for female students). It helps students understand the literal meaning of Quranic verses in Urdu and English.

Online Quran Tafseer (Classes)

This course goes beyond translation to explain the deeper meaning, context, and lessons behind Quranic verses. It’s aimed at students who want a fuller understanding of Islam and the Quran’s teachings, taught by scholars trained in Tafseer.
